| Should We Be Appalled? |

According to the White House, we should be. On Tuesday, April 26th, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the following about President Obama’s birth certificate “situation”:
And now, Wednesday, April 27th, less than one full day later, straight from the White House Blog, we get this: "President Obama’s Long Form Birth Certificate”. Wait, what? Taking a quick look at the correspondence between the White House and the Hawaiian Dept. of Health, you can clearly see that Obama requested copies of his birth certificate on Friday, April 22nd, so it appears that the White House was concerned about this exchange – enough to devote both time and money to obtaining the certified copies – an act, according to Mr. Carney, we should all be appalled by, “when, if fact, there are so many major issues that are facing this country that need to be addressed by the President.” Who cares that oil has gone up every day for the last month with no end in site and that we are currently paying $4.00/gallon when a barrel of oil is $112 when two years ago we were paying $4.00/gallon when a barrel of oil was $150? Who cares that we have racked up such a huge debt? Who cares about the instability in the Middle East? The birth certificate drops and Obama takes to the airwaves – even though there are “so many major issues facing this country that need to be addressed by the President”. During his press conference today, President Obama did agree: “We’ve got some enormous challenges out there” and “We do not have time for this kind of silliness” even though, apparently, you do. The much bigger issue is obviously the taping of the Oprah show he is running off to Chicago for. I may be a tad bit appalled. After years of rumors, it only took Donald Trump a few weeks of talking about it to make it happen:
If he can do this in a few weeks, it may be worth thinking a little harder about seeing what Trump could do with 4 years. It is crazy to think that this could have been done over 2 ½ years ago – just think of where we could be if that had been the case. Free gas? A balanced budget? World Peace? I’m thinking all of the above.
